Vatsala Answers:

The general procedure for conversion of land is to apply to the concerned deputy commissioner with all the relevant documents of title. Thereafter the land is inspected and if it complies with zonal use, the conversion is granted on payment of requisite fees. The time prescribed is 4 months from the date of submitting the complete application with all annexures, in Karnataka, but in practice the permission can be got in 2 to 3 months. The official fee will be approximately Rs. 80,000/- per acre for industrial land in Bangalore. Consultation with a local lawyer is advised to determine the extra legal expenses. Vatsala
